Precautions for Using Swimming Goggles
Buying good swimming goggles is very important, taking good care of them is equally important.Caring for swimming goggles can extend its lifespan and make it more comfortable to use. Next, I will explain the precautions for using swimming goggles from multiple aspects.
When choosing swimming goggles, the following checks should be done:
- Pay attention to checking if the goggles are transparent and if there are any scratches.
- Check if the gasket of the swimming goggles is sealed.
- Pay attention to the width of the nose pad of the swimming goggles. Some goggles can be adjusted in width, while others cannot, so be sure to try them on to see if they fit.
- The quality of goggles strap. If the elasticity and firmness of the strap are not good, it is easy to be damaged, so attention should be paid to the quality of the strap when selecting.
When swimming
- Maintain appropriate elasticity. When wearing swimming goggles, be careful not to tighten the strap too tightly, otherwise it may cause brain hypoxia or eyes discomfort.
- Newly purchased swimming goggles usually have anti fog layer, but after using a period of time, the anti fog layer is washed off, causing fog on the lenses during swimming, which affects the vision during swimming. In this case, the first solution is to buy anti fog agents, apply goggles, and then rinse with clean water. The second method is to apply a small amount of baby shampoo to the swimming goggles, and then rinse with water. The effect is good and the price is also cheap. In addition, gently licking the lens with the tongue can also have a certain effect. The last method is to use detergent, shower gel, and shampoo to drip into the frame, apply evenly, and then rinse with water (Poor cleaning can irritate the eyes).
Properly stored
- After use, rinse with clean water and air dry. Be careful not to wipe the lens with a towel to avoid scratching it.
- New swim goggles are usually already anti-fogged, so don't apply too much anti-fog.
- Please do not use all kinds of organic solvents when decontaminating to avoid deformation or discoloration of swimming goggles.
- In a wet state, prolonged time with bathing suits, towels, etc. can cause color staining, so it should be placed in a plastic bag or goggle box after use. Meanwhile, keeping them in water or wet condition for a long time will reduce the anti-fogging effect of the goggles, and moldy phenomenon will also occur. Therefore, it should be placed in a dry and ventilated place at room temperature and talcum powder should be added to maintain it.
- When storing your goggles, do not place them in direct sunlight or extreme heat to avoid distortion or performance damage.
- Do not wipe the inside of the lens directly with any substance to prevent damaging the fog film.
- Swimming goggles generally have no shelf life, just put them in the box that came with them when you bought them when you don't use them for a long time, and if you feel the need to do so, you can clean them regularly.
Swimming goggles cleaning
- Do not rub the lenses with your hands.
- Use Lipo detergent, put a drop on it, shake it with water and rinse it with water.
- The night before swimming, you can smear the inside of clean lenses with egg whites and set them aside to dry.
- Soap to wipe a little to dry (not really though, the pool is a public place and you might get pool water).
- Swim around and shag a bit, but it's a bit of a hassle.
- It is recommended that new goggles do not touch the inside with your hands; some goggles have an anti-fog layer.
